Description of Zorbas Beach apartments: Zorbas consists of 20 apartments. We guarantee a personal approach and a cozy atmosphere. The apartments all have several rooms: a living room and separate bedrooms. Most apartments are equipped for 3 to 4 people, but there are also apartments available for 2 persons. Our apartments can also be set up for 5 to 6 people, and we even have a family residence for up to 12 people. Each apartment has at least one private veranda, but most apartments have two. Each room is comfortably furnished. Each apartment has an open kitchen with a fridge, double stove, cooking utensils, glasses, cutlery, plates, kettle etc.

The apartments are equipped with shower and toilet. In the bedroom you will find a large closet with sufficient space for storing clothes and luggage. Each room has a large ceiling fan. Air conditioning is available on request. The apartments are equipped for summer and winter, all are insulated. Our apartments are suitable for a family holiday in Crete, as well as for couples, the elderly and groups. We have one apartment which is suitable for disabled people. At Zorbas we can also provide you with Dutch TV, but unfortunately we do not have this option in each apartment. We would therefore appreciate it f you could ask for this in advance if you want to make use of this option.

The sandy beach is 6 minutes walking away. The village of Gournes is located 16 km from Crete's capital Heraklion, 15 km from Hersonissos, 3 km from Kokkini Hani and 3 km of Gouves. In Gournes you can still enjoy the pleasant Cretan atmosphere. All amenities are within a stone's throw away in beautiful surroundings with plenty of things to do, for example the beach and the sea, as well as several Greek taverns, where you can still try the Greek cuisine in a fun and affordable way. We find it important that all our guests are happy. You can always discuss any problems you might have with us. We try to please everybody, and to maintain our accommodation in good condition.

Half board in Crete: it is possible to enjoy your holiday on Crete, as well as the delicious Greek cuisine! You can book your vacation with us on half board basis. We serve a variety of fresh Greek dishes every day. Our barbecue evenings are included with a half board reservation. We also organize a weekly Greek meze night. These are various small dishes with delicacies from the Greek and Cretan cuisine. We also regularly prepare "Kondosoefli": delicious smoked meat from the spit. Many Greek dishes are prepared in our Greek "grill house". In our grill house food is cooked on a large stone barbecue and in a Greek traditional wood oven. Every day we surprise our guests with delicious Greek dishes. Enjoy your holiday in the garden under our palm and banana trees.

Breakfast in Crete: from 08.30 am to 10.30 am you can make unlimited use of our breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet includes: unlimited coffee and tea, spring water, milk, orange juice, brown and white rolls, jam, Nutella, cheese, ham, muesli, cereal, fresh fruit and boiled eggs.

The swimming pool of Zorbas apartments in Crete: we ensure top hygiene with regard to our pool water. There is a beautiful garden around Zorbas that we take good care of. You will find many trees and plants that do not in nature grow in Northern Europe: olive trees, palm trees, banana trees, orange trees, lemon trees, mandarin trees, bougainvillea, grapevines and grape vines, many South European flowers, succulents and cacti. In the garden you will find the pool, and bar/ tavern. The gardens around Zorbas, Gournes are really created for relaxation: a holiday garden for a wonderful time in Crete. In our garden a pool table, darts and other games are available for children and adults.

In front of Zorbas apartments there is a small river bed which is dry in summer, but in winter it has melted mountain snow water being discharged to sea running through it. It is mainly bamboo which grows along the river bed there, but see what else is growing there, many wild herbs for example. The local shepherd often lets his sheep graze here early in the morning. Many Greeks regularly pick herbs in this river.

Cleaning of the apartments: we clean your apartment two times a week. Your linen is changed once a week and towels are changed every three days. In your apartment a cleaning kit is provided as well. If guests want their apartment cleaned daily this is also possible. You can also have your clothes washed and ironed (returned to you after 24 hours). There is a laundry basket for the laundry in your apartment.

Day of arrival at Zorbas apartments: on the first day of your holiday in Crete, we can show you around. We will make a trip around Gournes, Gouves and Kokkini Hani so you can get a general impression of the area around the Zorbas apartments. This tour takes at most half an hour to 45 minutes. We will show you things to do in the area, like taverns and restaurants, beach boulevard Gournes, aquarium Gournes, ATMs, supermarkets, shops; in short a general introduction to your holiday surroundings. We kindly ask everyone who would like this free introduction to ask for this in advance.

Every Saturday we organize a Greek barbecue, with nice Greek music in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Many of our guests like to help with barbecuing, that's no problem. The barbecue includes several types of meat: lamb chops, Greek barbecue sausages, bacon, Greek souvlaki, bifteki (Greek ground beef), Greek salads, tzatziki and many cold Greek dishes. We season our meat with local herbs such as oregano. Greek cuisine is also suitable for vegetarians. Every Wednesday we offer our guests an introduction to the Greek meze Kitchen evening. Examples of Greek mezes: dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), tzatziki, tarama salad, Greek salad, seasonal dishes, and seasonal fruits.
