APARTMENTS & TRAVEL in Crete 2010: Zorbas Beach is situated on the beach road, just outside the village of Gournes. You will find the beach four minutes walking distance from Zorbas Beach five minutes walking distance you will find the sandy beach. The village of Gournes lays 10 miles from the airport of Heraklion and 10 miles from Chersonissos. In Gournes you can enjoy the pleasant Cretan atmosphere. Everything you need for a lovely holiday: the sea, beaches, sun & fun!

  ZORBAS BEACH APARTMENTS: Zorbas Beach in Gournes Crete Greece  has eight apartments and is situated in a quiet and green area. The Zorbas Beach apartments lay in beautiful gardens with banana, olive, palm, orange, lemon and mandarin trees, surrounded with many flowers. In the gardens you will find the swimming pool and an ouzeri / tavern. The gardens around Zorbas Beach are really designed for relaxing. You can also play billiard or darts in our garden.

  All the apartments have two rooms: a living room and a bedroom. Some of the apartments are designed for two people, others for 3, 4, 5 or 6 persons. In the 4 or more person apartments, extra beds are available in the living area. We are always willing to consider bed placements. Each apartment has its own veranda, although most have two. Each apartment has a luxurious design and each has its own style. Each morning you can enjoy breakfast on the veranda or by the pool bar. For the breakfast on the veranda, let us know the evening before at what time you would like your breakfast. You will then find a breakfast set up for you on your veranda.
In the apartments the kitchen is equipped with a fridge, twin hotplates, cooking utensils, glasses, cutlery, plates, etc. There is a shower and toilet. In the bedroom you will find a large wardrobe with enough space to store your clothes and suitcases. The bed linen and hand towels are changed twice a week. The apartments are also thoroughly cleaned three times a week. (If you prefer we can clean your room every day). Zorbas Beach is open in the summer and in the winter. Internet: you are able to use our WI-FI system during your holidays; you will have to bring your own laptop. We offer you a public computer area in the Zorbas bar. On request, we can offer you international television in your apartment.

Laundry service: U can make use of our laundry service every day. Your laundry will be delivered to you the next day!

 TRANSFER:If you prefer we can pick you up from Heraklion airport. How do you find us? Exit the arrival hall and go left to the end and wait there (this is outside the domestic flights). If you’ve ordered a hire car we can also bring this to the airport for you.

  ARRIVAL ON GOURNES CRETE GREECE: On your day of arrival on beautiful Crete we’ll give you (if you wish) a guided tour of the surrounding area of Zorbas Beach. We’ll usually show you the beach, the supermarket, etc. This guided tour is of course without cost. Also we will give you our tips and information for excursions around Crete.

ZORBAS SERVICE:Zorbas Beach offers you the following services: car hire, motorbike hire, scooter hire, bicycle hire, skating and cycling tours, water sports, diving, swimming, travel advice, parasailing, water-skiing, canoe hire, excursions. Almost everything is possible. We are more then happy to give you all the information you need while staying on Crete! PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: The bus leaves from Gournes every half hour in the direction of Heraklion or Agios Nikolaos and Chersonissos. You will see the bus stop on the main road in Gournes village. The main road of Gournes is a ten minutes walk from Zorbas Beach. The bus stop is number 8. Crete has an extensive network of buses, you can go almost everywhere by public transport. Greek public transport is inexpensive.

  TRAVEL DOCUMENTS FOR CRETE GREECE: While on holiday in Greece a tourist card is sufficient! Greece is a member of the European Union. A passport is still required for UK citizens.

 MONEY IN GREECE: The currency in use in Greece is the Euro. You can use your bankcard with pin code everywhere. There are plenty of cash machines on Crete. The closest cash machine to Zorbas Beach is in Kokini Hani (1.5 miles). There is also a cash machine at Heraklion airport.

  WELLBEING in GREECE: Please look after your skin while on holiday on Crete! The sun shines the whole day in the summer. Good sun protection for your skin is necessary. Even earlier or later in the year you must be on your guard. It happens so often a nice holiday is spoiled by getting severe sunburn!

TRAVELLING AROUND CRETE GREECE: At Zorbas Beach you’ve found the right place for all your questions about travelling in Crete. We will be pleased to help you on your way! We have various car, scooter and bicycle tours set out for you. You can get an extensive route description from us based on our experience on Crete. Many of our trips are not described in tourist books. We can always advice you about a different kind of trip, even for people who have come to Crete on holiday for years. We will be pleased to advise you! We can also order a taxi for you. We always use the same taxi drivers. You’ll know the price beforehand. If you ring for yourself always ask what the cost of the taxi ride is. At the same time we have an extensive stock of Dutch and English light reading and comic books.   TIME DIFFERENCE IN CRETE: In Greece it is one hour later than in the Benelux and two hours later than in the UK.

CRIME IN CRETE: Crete has much lower crime rate, which is why people often leave things behind in a car while on holiday on Crete! Please stay also on your guard here!

  DRINKING WATERIN CRETE: Gournes and Gouves are two places where you can drink water from the tap, but we still advise you to buy bottles of water for drinking.

SHOPPING IN CRETE: The shops on Crete are open from Monday to Friday from 09.00 until 13.30 and also Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 17.00 until 20.30. But in all the tourist places in the summer season the shops are open seven days a week.

SURFING IN CRETE GREECE: You can always use our surfboard that is available at Zorbas beach.
