Dia
Island:
the trip to Dia Island takes the whole day. We will leave at 9 am from the port
and we will sail to the Eastern tip of the island, and then we will sail along
the South coast of Dia with a stop at the cave at the Madonna Bay. From this
point you cannot see Crete anymore. On a quiet day you can see many fish and
birds here. After this we will head for the South West Cape of Dia Island, where
we will moor at a deserted beach. We will stay here a few hours, to barbecue,
swim, snorkel, hike fish, etc. From here you can easily hike to the North side
of Dia Island.
After we have enjoyed the barbecue, picnic and a refreshing swim in the sea the boats will sail to the North side of Dia Island, along a beautiful island with a reef. In the middle of the North side we will sail along meters high rocks (it is 60 meters deep under water there) and we can also visit a sea cave.
After passing the North coast of Dia Island we will sail to the island Paximadi. This is a small island, which is located about 4 to 5 km from Dia Island. Paximadi in Greek means "hard bread ", and indeed the island looks like it. We will sail to the small island and anchor at the South side of it. Swimming and snorkeling is delightful here. There are many amphorae from ancient times in the water; you may look at them, but unfortunately it is forbidden to touch these amphorae. The rock of Paximadi has a number of small underwater caves on the South side, where you can enjoy looking at the fish through your mask.
Dolphins in Crete: we cannot guarantee that we will see dolphins in Crete, but last summer it still happened three times. Once the dolphins swam around the boat, which was a magnificent spectacle. Between Dia and Paximadi it is more likely to see dolphins. It is no coincidence that the ancient Greeks made murals of dolphins in the palace of Knossos. Every time we see flying fish, it often means that later in the day we could see dolphins.
The boat trip to Sissi is a fun experience as well. We will pass Analipsi, Annisaras, the Saint George Bay, Hersonissos, Malia and Stalida. We will dock at the port of Sissi, where you will spend a few hours. Sissi has charming streets and shops, where you can visit restaurants, taverns, ouzeries and souvenir shops.
Boat rental in Crete Greece: it is also possible to rent a boat in Crete, but you must have prior experience. These boats fit 7 people, which includes the driver. The boats are rented year-round for day trips, fishermen, etc. The boats are very suitable for fishing.
sailing: We provide opportunities for a sailing holiday in Crete Greece, summer and winter. You can put together your own sailing holiday. There are also opportunities to visit other Greek Islands.
sailing and hiking: a fun excursion with a combination of hiking and sailing in Crete. The island of Dia is 12 kilometers off the coast of Crete and can be seen from many locations in Crete. Dia on the South side has the shape of a crocodile. Next to Dia Island there is a much smaller island called Paximadie (“baked bread"). Dia is a beautiful island with many things to see. The boats that go to the island anchor in front, then you can swim and snorkel, and then boats go back again. This tour however shows the secret places of Dia Island.
