Jeep safari 2010: We will leave from Zorbas at 9.00 AM after breakfast. We will visit the centre of Crete with our group of jeeps. The whole day we will mostly be driving off-road. Between 10.30 and 11.00 AM we will stop for coffee at an old Greek Kafenion (Greek traditional coffeehouse). After our coffee break we continue our off-road jeep safari through central Crete. You can expect to see lots of culture this day! You will also see many beautiful, old Greek villages in the mountains. Around 1.00 PM we will enjoy lunch in the lovely village of Kastraki. After lunch we continue our tour through the mountains. We return to Zorbas in the afternoon around 5.00 PM, where you can enjoy a cold drink and a dive in the swimming pool. Nothing is more refreshing after an adventurous Jeep safari.

What to expect of a jeep safari: We offer you rented jeeps (4x4). Four persons maximum are allowed per jeep. We will provide you all the meals and drinks for the day. If you are afraid of heights, you are still very welcome to join our jeep safari, though we suggest that you do not take a turn driving. Everybody with a valid driver’s license is allowed to drive during our jeep safari, but it is not mandatory and those who do not wish to drive are still welcome.

We started our jeep safaris with a group of friends, a spontaneous drive off-road through the mountains to see a different part of Crete. Afterwards another jeep joined in, then another and so on….now our jeep safaris have grown to a be an unforgettable part of a Zorbas holiday in Crete. Every winter we develop a new jeep safari. Many of our guests who visit us repeatedly at Zorbas Beach, Crete like to experience a different jeep safari every year. The main focus of a jeep safari is to explore Crete’s nature, villages, mountains, culture and sea sides. We are able to offer you a DVD of all the adventures and fun we have experienced during our jeep safaris.

Conditions: you will have to rent your own jeep which will be delivered to Zorbas Beach. You will need a valid driver’s license. We need a minimum of 4 jeeps and a the maximum number of jeeps is 10. The first jeep and last jeep must be driven by one of our Zorbas chauffeurs.

We are able to offer you six different jeep safaris. Every summer we start with a new jeep safari which brings new fun, adventure, culture and beautiful landscapes! Many times our guests at Zorbas Beach like to go on several jeep safaris while on holiday in Crete. This is no problem at all, you are able to join any jeep safari as often as you like! We can also offer you a longer jeep safari. We will leave at 8.00 AM and return to Zorbas around 6.00 PM.

We prefer not to reveal too much information about our routes over the internet, because we like to keep our jeep safaris unique! Our jeep safaris on Crete are always a new and exciting adventure.

Jeep safari 1: this jeep safari starts at Gournes, and goes through Gouves, Kokkini Hani to Episkopi, all off-road. We will stop for coffee at a cosy Kafenion. After our break in Episkopi we drive through olive fields on a sandy road to Central Crete. On both sides you are able to enjoy the view to the Ida and Dikti mountains, which are situated far in the distance. In the afternoon we organize a barbeque in the middle of the olive fields. The rest of the afternoon you will explore Crete during a magnificent tour through the most beautiful places of Crete where most have never been before.

Jeep safari 2: a very special jeep safari! We begin off-roading straight from Gournes. This jeep safari takes you from Zorbas Beach to Skotino. In Skotino we will visit a cave. Afterwards, we drive 65 kilometers off-road. We will pass trough several villages during our tour:  Gournes, Skotino grot, Galipe, Galifa, Xarisa, Kalo Chorio, Messa Potamies and Potamies. The total tour is 95 kilometers. We offer you a delicious lunch in the afternoon.

Jeep safari 3: Idon Adron (Ida mountains), central Crete. Including lunch in Anogia and a dive in the sea on the beach of Fodelle. The total jeep safari is 130 kilometers, 74 kilometers are off-road.

Jeep safari 4: South of Crete, Ierapetra and a tour through the mountains of Sitia. We offer you lunch in Koutsouras. You are also able to sunbathe and swim on the beach of Koutsouras. We will return via Orino and Tripty back to Gournes. It will be a long day, about 200 kilometers in total through Crete, 100 kilometers of which are off-road routes through the landscapes. This safari is not suitable for inexperienced drivers, people who are afraid of heights or suffer from car sickness.

Jeep safari 5: A safari through the plateau of Kathros in the area of Kritsa. A long safari; 170 kilometers total, 82 kilometers off-road.

 In addition to our summer jeep safaris on Crete, we also organize jeep safaris in the winter. We can offer you a holiday with accommodation and a jeep, so you can explore Crete off-road for 3 of 4 days during your winter holiday in Crete Greece.

We will leave from Zorbas at 9.00 AM. We will have a coffee break in a old village, lunch in the mountains and stop at the beach. Around 5.00 PM we will be back at Zorbas, where you can enjoy our weekly barbeque night.
