It's surprisingly nice to go snorkeling with us sometime! Crete offers a stunning underwater landscape with many different fish. Every week we organize a snorkeling day. We have all the snorkeling and diving equipment ourselves: masks, flippers, snorkels, diving boots, cameras, lead, etc. We organize this snorkeling excursion once a week, in a beautiful reef at the beach of Gournes. This fun excursion is suitable for both adults and children. We also have diving boots in kids’ sizes.

Snorkeling in Crete with speed boat: this is a one day excursion. It gives you the possibility to discover the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean Sea. Children under 12 years will also enjoy exploring the underwater world of Crete from the surface. You will get a detailed explanation of the equipment and required techniques for snorkeling in Crete, as well as an explanation of the underwater flora and fauna of Crete. We offer you two guided snorkel tours, one from the boat and one from the beach. The snorkeling gear can be used the whole day. Transportation is provided for from your accommodation to the dive location.

The day begins in our dive center with a 30-45 minute explanation by one of our instructors about the equipment (fins, mask and snorkel). The safety rules, the underwater world and the technique to snorkel from the surface without too much effort are explained as well. After the explanation you will receive your snorkeling gear: wetsuit, snorkel, mask, fins, etc. Then you will take your diving equipment to the boat. Always carry a plastic bag for things that should remain dry. Soon after this follows the first guided discovery tour of the bay of Kapsis. This bay is full of palm trees. After the Bay of Kapsis the tour will continue by speedboat to the caves. Here we will anchor the boat and embark on a snorkeling tour of 45-60 minutes under supervision. If you want go along under water in the caves, an instructor will come along. If you prefer not to explore the caves under water, then you can snorkeling around the caves with a different instructor, after which you will find the group on the other side. The caves are breathtakingly beautiful for snorkeling.

Under water we will see amongst others beautiful rock formations of lava rock, plants, starfish and many different other marine animals, such as tropical fish, sea urchins, octopus and seahorses.

After the snorkeling excursion we will return to the speedboat. The boat sails past beautiful rock formations to a Robinson Crusoe beach. This beach is only accessible by sea; you cannot get there by land. It is a deserted beach with here and there some fishing huts. We will have a barbecue in this uninhabited island. We will have everything with us: water, wine & soft drinks, Greek salads, meat and water melons. You can snorkel by yourself at this beaching, while our instructor prepares the barbecue for you. There are two possibilities to snorkel from the beach. At the end of the afternoon we will return tired but satisfied to the speedboat and we will leave for the dive center. Again now we will sail past beautiful rock formations.

Back at the dive center, we will return the diving equipment, after we have rinsed it in the diving pools. After this on our snorkel day in Crete has come to an end, and we will return to the accommodation. You have now gained quite a bit of snorkeling experience. If you prefer, you can continue snorkeling some more in the area during your holiday. The next step may be to try diving. DSD (PADI) is a day to get acquainted with diving.

Underwater photography: We will teach you how to take pictures under water, which you will get to take home later as a souvenir. Underwater photography is something different than "normal" photography, and a nice theme for the snorkeling afternoon.

Trial dive in Crete: After the snorkel afternoon you can take a free trial dive with oxygen bottles in the pool with us. If you like this, you can always learn to dive in the sea; this diving course (one day) is an unforgettable experience.
