Snow in Crete: every year, there is snow in the higher Cretan mountains. Usually the snow falls in November for the first time. And most of the time, the first snow is on Psiloritis (the highest mountain on Crete with 2456 meters).
How long does the snow last in Crete?
In the lower situated regions of Crete, the snow will already start to melt early. The highest Cretan mountains up to 2.456 metres will have snow until the summer months. It is always nice to see from the beach that there is still snow up in the higher mountains.
Snow walking in Crete: It is very beautiful to hike through the snow in the Cretan mountains. The olive groves are full of snow.
Next spring in Crete: The snow also has a positive influence on the Cretan nature. The nature in Crete will remain green until June with lots of beautiful flowers and plants! And some gorges will still have water and even waterfalls till the summer. The more snow in winter, the more water in the spring.
