Welcome to laid-back Sougia
Discover Sougia, a hidden gem on the south coast of Crete, right on the Libyan Sea. This picturesque fishing village, surrounded by the imposing White Mountains, is the perfect place for those seeking peace, authenticity and natural beauty. Here, time slows down and the atmosphere is relaxed.
Beaches and nature: Sougia’s biggest attraction is its long beach of coarse sand and fine pebbles. With a length of more than a kilometre, the beach never feels crowded and there is always a quiet spot to be found. The crystal-clear, deep water invites you to take a refreshing dip, while the surrounding rocks and hills provide a spectacular backdrop. The nearby beaches of Domata and Fournoti are also worth a visit.
Adventure and culture: despite its relaxed atmosphere, Sougia offers plenty of opportunities for the active traveller. The village is located at the end of the beautiful Agia Irini Gorge, a less crowded but equally impressive alternative to the famous Samaria Gorge. You can also take a boat trip to the ruins of ancient Lissos, or sail on to other idyllic spots along the coast such as Agia Roumeli and Loutro. Food and conviviality: In Sougia, you can enjoy genuine Greek hospitality. Along the coast and in the village, you will find cosy tavernas and cafés where you can sample authentic Cretan cuisine. Think fresh fish, local mezedes and delicious regional dishes. The evenings here are perfect for relaxing with a drink, admiring the stars and experiencing the unique, relaxed energy of this special village.

Paleochora
Located on the south-west coast of Crete, Paleochora is a lively village that is perfect for both those seeking peace and quiet and adventurers. This “bride of the Libyan Sea” is built on a narrow headland, with the clear Libyan Sea on either side. Atop this headland stands an impressive Venetian castle, whose ruins tell a rich history.
Beaches with a double choice: one of the biggest advantages of Paleochora is its two different beaches. On one side, you will find a long and wide sandy beach, perfect for lazing in the sun for hours, with a beautiful view of the sunset. On the other side is a quiet pebble beach, ideal for a refreshing dip in the clear water. The promenade here is dotted with cosy tavernas and restaurants.
Life in the village: the heart of Paleochora is its cosy main street, which is closed to traffic in the evening. This transforms the centre into a large, lively terrace full of cosy tavernas, cafés and shops. You can enjoy delicious local dishes, such as fresh fish and traditional mezedes, in a relaxed and authentic Greek atmosphere.
Adventurous excursions: Paleochora is the perfect place for those who want to see more than just the beach. It is an ideal starting point for hikes through the impressive mountains and gorges in the area, such as the Samaria Gorge. From the harbour, you can also take the ferry to surrounding coastal gems, such as picturesque Loutro and Agia Roumeli. Whether you arrive by car or boat, Paleochora welcomes you with open arms.

Loutro
Welcome to Loutro, a breathtaking village on the south coast of Crete. This unique place is only accessible by boat or on foot. Here you will find no cars, no crowds, but an oasis of peace and beauty. The view of the bay is unforgettable: bright white houses with blue accents, surrounded by the deep blue waters of the Libyan Sea. A place for those seeking peace and quiet and adventurers
Loutro is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to escape mass tourism. The atmosphere here is completely relaxed and inviting. Whether you want to relax on the small beach all day or have a cup of coffee in one of the traditional tavernas, time seems to stand still here. Discovery and nature: Despite the serene atmosphere, Loutro offers plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding area. From the harbour, you can take a boat trip to the surrounding beaches, such as the impressive Marmara Beach and the famous Sweetwater Beach. For the active traveller, Loutro is an ideal starting point for hiking trips to nearby gorges and villages. It is even possible to walk to historic Agia Roumeli, at the end of the Samaria Gorge. Loutro is not just a destination; it is an experience. And don’t forget the Venetian fortress on the mountain.

Welcome to Rethymnon
One of the most beautiful cities in Crete. Here, history comes to life in a blend of Venetian and Ottoman influences. Wander through the maze of narrow, cobbled streets in the old town, where every corner offers a surprise. Admire the impressive architecture, from ornate balconies to hidden squares, and feel the authentic atmosphere that makes the city so unique.
Sights and atmosphere: the crown jewel of the city is the majestic Fortezza, a Venetian fortress that towers high above Rethymnon. From the walls, you have a spectacular view of the city and the sparkling sea. Next to the Fortezza, the picturesque Venetian harbour is an absolute must-see. Here you will find colourful fishing boats and the quay is lined with cosy taverns and restaurants. It is the perfect place for a romantic dinner at sunset.
Beaches and conviviality: Rethymnon has a long and wide sandy beach that blends seamlessly into a lively promenade. It is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the sun. In the evening, the city buzzes with energy. From cosy taverns in the narrow alleys to the lively bars at the harbour, there is something for everyone. Thanks to its student population, Rethymnon has a youthful and relaxed atmosphere. Rethymnon is a city full of charm, history and life, inviting you to discover all its beauty.
