Adrianos Gorge on Crete: This is a challenging hike for the experienced hiker! We start the hike near Neapolis, Lassithi.
It starts immediately with a nice ascent on a well-trodden path. Next, we walk across the mountain via an old donkey trail, enjoying beautiful views of the surroundings. At the top of the ridge, we can see the village below us from where we enter the gorge. After a descent, we emerge in the village. Here we walk around the village, which is largely deserted. Two people still live in this small village.
The gorge and cave
We then walk towards the gorge. We visit a cave with beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. A torch with you is recommended to see the structures clearly. Then we emerge into the gorge and the real hiking begins! The gorge has a number of obstacles such as large rocks and sections that do require some scrambling. But the biggest obstacles are two ropes you have to use to go down a steep wall. The first section is about 2 metres, but the 2nd is at least 3-4m. This is not for everyone.
After this, the route continues through the gorge, which we follow further down. At the end of the gorge, we ascend again through the olive fields towards the car.

During the day it will be pleasantly warm with temperatures around 29 to 31 degrees, and at night the temperature will drop to 21 to 23 degrees.
