The programme: three days of pure adventure in Crete
Day 1: the climb to Greek tranquillity
Our expedition begins with a challenging cycle ride along winding mountain trails that have been used by local shepherds for generations. As the Aegean coastline slowly fades into the distance, the landscape changes. The air thickens with the scent of wild thyme, sage and ancient pine forests.
Our destination is a hidden gem: a secluded olive grove, tucked away deep in the rolling hills. Here we set up camp beneath the silvery canopy of trees that have witnessed the history of Crete. As soon as the Greek starry sky opens up above us – brighter than you have ever seen – we gather round the grill. We enjoy an authentic meal made with local produce, naturally prepared with our own organic olive oil (acidity 0.3).
Day 2: exploring the wilderness of Crete on foot
Wake up to the soft morning light filtering through the olive branches and the distant jingle of sheep’s bells. After a hearty breakfast of thick Greek yoghurt, fresh honey and fruit, we lace up our walking boots.
We set off on a challenging 15-kilometre hike through unspoilt mountain scenery. We pass hidden Byzantine chapels, traverse breathtaking ridges and walk through deep ravines. Back in the olive grove, you’ll experience the luxury of simplicity: pick sun-ripened oranges straight from the tree and squeeze your own juice for the ultimate vitamin boost. The evening is all about unwinding; no screens, no notifications, just the crackling of the campfire and a good glass of local Cretan wine.
Day 3: the spectacular descent to the coast
We begin the final day with a meditative walk through the orchard, taking one last deep breath of the crisp mountain air. After a peaceful morning, we hop back on our bikes for the highlight: a spectacular descent.
As we whizz down towards the azure blue sea at Kokkini Hani, you’ll feel the tranquillity of the mountains coursing through your entire being. You’ll return to civilisation with a sense of fulfilment, a recharged spirit and a deep respect for the authentic, untamed Greece.
