In fact, Naxos already dominated in trade at the Cyclades in the 8th and 7th centuries BC. Many products from Naxos were already known in ancient times. Such as the Naxos marble, the Amaril (fine-grained rock) and wine. It was one of the first Greek islands to work with marble and the marble was mainly exported to Minoan Crete. The island is still a dominant economic player in the Cyclades, partly thanks to these products.
